Police appeal after road crash

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road crash at Wivenhoe.

Officers were called after a blue BMW 325i and a silver Vauxhall Zafira were in collision on the B1027 Brightlingsea Road at about 3pm on Friday.

Both drivers were taken to Colchester General Hospital. The driver of the BMW, a man aged 64, suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Vauxhall received less serious injuries. The air ambulance also attended the scene. The road was closed for several hours while police carried out an investigation.
