Lifeboat crew rescues yacht

COASTGUARDS responded to a mayday call after a yacht got into difficulties in the Walton Backwaters.

Two people were on the Amy Jack II when she went aground at Stone Point at 7.10am on Friday.

Thames coastguard sent the Harwich RNLI inshore lifeboat to help and the fishing boat Cheryl Sara stood by.

The lifeboat team were able to refloat the 32 ft yacht and escorted her to a mooring.

What were they doing in these shallow waters half an hour before 'Low Water?'
And why did they send a 'Mayday?'
If they'd waited an hour or so, they would have been buoyant again...

it`s getting very shallow there now and thats a well known fact or at least should be sailing a big boat like that past stone point so close to low water is asking for trouble and a mayday does seem a bit ott.
