Detective's shock at fresh-faced burglars
7:32pm Wednesday 29th August 2012 in Clacton, Frinton & Walton
Fresh-faced burglars broke into a house in St Annes Road, Clacton and took a laptop computer and games console.
The raiders, aged in their early to mid teens, forced open the front door today at 2.30am.
The owner, who was asleep at the time, disturbed them and they ran off.
He called the police and officers chased three suspects but did not catch them.
Det Con Roger Henderson, said: "It’s disturbing that burglars these days are so young.
"Teenagers, especially younger ones, are vulnerable and should not be out thieving from people’s homes but rather be at home with their parents or guardians.
"These three individuals would have been seen by passers-by, with the afro-hairstyle boy standing out.
"They and certainly him will be known to people and we would urge them to contact us so that they don’t strike again.”
The burglars are described as being in their early to mid teens. Two were white, skinny and about 5ft 6ins.
The third is described as being of mixed heritage with a large afro hairstyle and was wearing a grey tracksuit.
Anyone with information can call Det Con Henderson at Clacton police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
