Warning over scam callers in Clacton

SCAM callers have been targeting people in Clacton in a bid to steal from their bank accounts.

The fraudsters have been ringing people and telling them malicious and dangerous files have been detected on their computers.

They ask for details which can be used to access the person’s bank account.

Councillor Peter Halliday was one of those called by the scammers.

He said: “I got a phonecall from an Indian lady on an international number.

“She asked for my computer details but when I asked for a company name she hung up.

“A friend of mine got a similar call and handed over some of his computer details, and some money was taken out of his bank account.

“People need to be aware of the dangers and be very careful when getting calls like this.”

This was always happening to me, but I have noticed a significant drop in calls when I tell the caller that I do not have a computer, television, windows or have gas or electric etc etc and as they have no answer to this on their sheets they just hang up.
Judging by the very few unsolicited calls I know have they must have learnt how can they sell or ask something from someone who has nothing!!
Try it it works for me
