THIEVES escaped with a collection box in a raid on a charity shop in Clacton.
The money was snatched from the counter at the Cancer Research shop in West Avenue at the weekend.
Relief manager Sandro Dos Santos said: "We don't know how much was in it but we were quite lucky because we had a fun day the week before and all the collection boxes had been emptied.
"We are hoping there wasn't a lot in there."
Staff at the store were left fuming last year when burglars broke into the shop and stole their lottery tickets.
