A WOMAN was rescued by firefighters following a fire at her home in Clacton.
Crews from Clacton and Weeley were called to the semi-detached house in Crown Road at about 10.40pm on Saturday.
The woman, who is thought to be in her 50s, suffered smoke inhalation and was treated by ambulance crews at the scene.
Fire crews wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reels to tackle the blaze, which was put out by 11.20pm.
Station Officer Lee Palfreyman said: "Thanks to the quick thinking of the crews she was carried to safety from the bedroom of her house.
"The lady was suffering from smoke inhalation and was placed in the care of the ambulance service."
The woman was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Colchester General Hospital.
An investigation will take place to establish the cause of the blaze.
