TWO people have been arrested by police as part of a bid to clampdown on drug dealing in Clacton town centre.
Tendring's Community Policing Team carried out uniformed and covert patrols in the town centre on Thursday.
A spokesman said the initiative was aimed at "disrupting" drug dealing and associated activity.
Officers stopped a man who was seen "acting suspiciously" in Jackson Road on Thursday morning.
The spokesman added: "On approaching him, he dropped a quantity of Class A drugs, but was too slow for the officers who recovered them."
A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to the incident and will appear in court next month.
A 22-year-old woman was later arrested on suspicion of possessing 43 wraps of a Class A drug and a quantity of cash after being stopped and searched by police in Hayes Road.
Witty officers also requested that a man who dropped a manbag while out for a run in Clacton get in touch with them.
The bag contained cash, a mobile phone ... and cannabis.

The spokesman added: "If you were out for a run in the sun and couldn’t hear us behind you, we would like to let you know that you dropped a manbag containing cash and a mobile phone. Oh, and cannabis.
"Please get in touch - we’d love to speak to you."
