A MAN is fighting for his life after being hit by a lorry on the A133 near Weeley.
The pedestrian, who is aged in his 30s, was hit by a lorry on the Colchester-bound carriage way at 3.40am .
The road was closed in both directions, between Weeley roundabout and the Progress Way roundabout in Little Clacton, until 12noon while emergency service dealt with the incident.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “The pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital in a life threatening condition.”
Motorists were advised to take alternative routes and were thanked for their patience and understanding.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “The East of England Ambulance Service Trust was called to a serious road traffic collision on the A133 near Weeley.
“Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer attended and treated a man with a head injury.
“He was taken to Colchester General Hospital in a serious condition.”
