SEA cadets from Clacton put their best feet forward to win a host or prizes at a special competition.

Clacton Sea Cadets, based in Windsor Avenue, entered a team six into the weekend-long Advex completion.

The contest is designed to test their adventure training skills and determination against all other units in the London Eastern District.

The cadets arrived late Friday to pitch their tent in the dark and then hiked over 14km while carrying all of their kit.

On the Sunday they were marked on a number of challenging stances, such as a mud run, command tasks and a stretcher run.

Sub Lt Ben Chandler, the commanding officer of Clacton Sea Cadets, said: “The team gave an excellent performance over the weekend, but I was most impressed by their mature, driven and humble approach to the competition.

“They are a credit to their parents and an asset to the community.”

The team won the overall Navigator Award, overall Leader award and came third in the collective scoring.

They will now represent London Eastern District along with the other top three teams at the Falklands Competition against the Air and Army Cadets in September.
