A MAN has denied abusing a hotel barmaid after she refused to serve him more alcohol.
Colchester Magistrates' Court heard John Giles arrived back at the Kingscliff Hotel, in Holland-on-Sea, after an evening drinking in Clacton.
It is alleged when he asked for more drink and was refused by bar staff, he became aggressive and pushed another hotel guest.
Giles, 33, from Aylesford, in Kent, was working in Clacton at the time and was staying at the Kings Parade hotel.
Prosecutor Henny Tatum told magistrates Giles had drunk a number of pints of lager and had moved onto Jack Daniels and Coke before returning to his hotel.
Giles denies common assault and using threatening and abusive behaviour, said to have taken place on October 1 last year.
A trial will take place in the spring.
