TEN fire engines were called to a blaze at an industrial unit last night.
Crews were called to the site on Stephenson Road, Clacton, around 8.35pm.
When they arrived, about 60 per cent of the building was alight and it was completely smoke logged.
The unit is used as a motorcyle workshop and contained several motorcyles, engines, tyres and oil.
Adjoining units became affected by the fire.
Crews from Weeley, Frinton, Colchester, Clacton, Brightlingsea, West Mersea and Dovercourt attended.
A brigade spokesman said: "The unit was adjoined to three other units, but thanks to the hard work of the firefighters the fire was mostly contained to the original unit.
"Firefighters had extinguished the fire by 11.47pm. The fire has caused extensive damage to the motorcyle unit, but fortunately the adjoining units only suffered slight smoke and water damage."
Crews continued to cool down hot spots throughout the night.
An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire though at this time it is thought to be accidental.
