Wendy Gavin is about to make a start on her bucket list, but sadly time is running out.

Friends have rallied round to help the well-known Clacton health and charity campaigner achieve a few dying wishes.

Wendy was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2012 but friends admit it’s a race against time.

The 57 year-old wants to have her autobiography published, but was told that would cost £695.

Wendy wants to watch Arsenal and meet the players, meet singer Mick Hucknall of Simply Red, as well as have a holiday away from Clacton while she still can.

Since the Gazette published Wendy’s plight last week, her friend Joanne Horwood of Jaywick said a Melvyn Mann and his wife of Clacton have provided two tickets for the Saturday October 22 Arsenal game against Middlesborough.

Efforts to sort out a meeting with players was being made too.

Another supporter is also trying to get the mum-of-three’s life story published for free.

“I told Wendy that she better stick around for the match. We are just holding out for time. It’s a waiting game. There’s nothing more they can do,” said Joanne.

In the meantime, Joanne is planning to add to the £65 raised so far to help fund Wendy’s dying wishes.

Disabled herself, she plans a sponsored walk from Clacton Pier to Walton Pier from 11am on Saturday October 8.
