TWO work colleagues at Tendring Council have raised more than £1,600 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Jennifer Ford and Lizzie Ridout both Braved the Shave and were sponsored by family, friends, staff and Councillors.

The appropriately named Graham Cutts from Les Images in Clacton Road, St Osyth, did the honours at Clacton Town Hall.

“I did it for several reasons. I lost my mum to cancer three years ago and MacMillan was a great help throughout her illness,” said Jennifer.

“Also a great friend is going through cancer treatment at the moment.”

Lizzie also has a friend with cancer and wanted to do something positive for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“This year there was suddenly every reason to do this - and no reason not to.

“I did it for my friend as well as for my friends and family members who are thankfully survivors,” she said.

Both Jennifer, an IT Support Officer, and Lizzie, TDC’s Deputy Management and Members’ Support Manager, admitted to being nervous before the shave but were happy with the end result.

The pair thanked all those who had contributed and there is still more to come in.
