THERE were whoops of joy at Tendring Technology College today as the first A Levels results came in.

Students gathered at its Frinton Campus from early morning for the results its executive principal praised as “outstanding”.

In some subjects, such as Maths and Physics, more than half gained an A or A*.

A or A* grades were also achieved in English Literature, History, Sociology and PE.

Executive principal Caroline Haynes said Tendring Technology College was “once again delighted” with the results, which showed “very high levels of achievement at every level of ability, and in every subject we offer”.

At BTEC, students also achieved outstanding results with 85 per cent of awards attaining an A* or A equivalency.

“These results reflect the outstanding teaching that takes place every day within our sixth form. I am very proud of TTC staff and we as a college are all very proud of what our students have achieved today,” she added.

Among the students, Jessica Gray, 18, of Thorpe-Le-Soken gained a A* in Psychology, and Bs in Sociology and Religious studies respectively.

“I’m absolutely over the moon. Thank you teachers,” she said.

Jessica wants to study psychology at Essex University, having found it a very homely and friendly place on her visits. It is also close to home.

“I want to work with children with special needs because I have dyslexia myself,” she said.

“But for now to celebrate, I’m off to the V Festival in Chelmsford.”

Nathan Cinnamond, 18, of Walton gained an A* in Maths and As in Chemistry, Physics and Further Maths.

“I’m going to Durham University to study Astrophysics. I want to be a research Astrophysicist. Maybe I’ll work for NASA,” he said.

He planned celebrating at a beach party this evening.

Edward plans to study Physical Geography at Loughborough University and afterwards “maybe do something in finance and economics.”

Dominic Milham , 18 of Frinton scored an A in geography, and Bs in Biology and Chemistry.

He is going to do a four-year Masters degree in Environmental Science at UEA.

He is to go to Warwick University to study Global Sustainable Development and Philosophy.

But he felt “elated” having worked really hard. He too was to go to a beach party, where he said he would drink orange juice.

Finally, Emilie Phillips of Frinton gained three Bs in Art, Philosophy and English Lit.

Emilie is going to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at UEA.

“I want to do political analyst-type stuff,” she said.

She also has ambitions to become an MP, even PM, though she won’t say for which party, saying she has “no political affiliations.”

“I just love all the different issues and opinions and how exciting it gets. The Brexit Referendum was so good and exciting,” Emilie added.
