PUPILS are set to ditch the classroom to build with brightly-coloured bricks after the launch of an innovative Lego room at a Clacton school.
Clacton Coastal Academy has unveiled its new Lego room, designed to inspire students and help them learn with unusual lessons.
Youngsters have already been using the studio to learn about robotics and programming, building models and controlling them electronically.
The Lego room will also be used in science, technology and English projects.
Dignitaries and councillors were invited into Coastal Academy for the studio launch.
Lego director Gareth Boldsworth gave a keynote speech and visitors got stuck into a series of fun Lego challenges.
Stephanie Neill, head of the academy, said: “It is often difficult for students to realise that making mistakes is how we learn.
“The way they work with Lego is to try something, realise it doesn’t do quite what they want, and go back and try again.
“If we can help students to understand the benefits of this in something as fun and creative as working with Lego, it will help them take the same approach in all aspects of their learning.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to promote passion for learning and creativity.”
