TWO Clacton holiday parks have been granted permission to stage outdoor film showings and live music after a last-minute compromise with worried residents.

Highfield Grange in London Road and Valley Farm in Valley Road – both run by Park Resorts – launched bids to change their licences to allow the outdoor events.

It looked like the bid would have to be decided by a Tendring Council hearing after objections were raised by residents.

Objectors feared the events would make too much noise.

But a compromise was struck and permission for film and music events was granted after last-minute discussions.

Residents were satisfied after Park Resorts agreed to a number of measures, including restricting outdoor films to a certain number of showings each year and having live music finish by 7pm.

Mark Platt, chairman of Tendring Council’s licensing committee, said the compromise is “better and cheaper” than dragging the issue through a council hearing.

He added: “I am really pleased that the various parties have talked to each other and come up with an acceptable solution to overcome the various objections raised against the changes to the licences for the two parks.

“Residents and the council’s environmental health noise team have been listened to by the parks’ owners and are assured that their concerns will be dealt with.

“In turn the holiday parks can grow their business, which means jobs are secured and visitors to Tendring have an even better time during their stay.”
