THEY claim to be the UK's top Paul Weller tribute show, and look-alike lead singer Tony Brown's uncanny resemblance to the Modfather is certain to have fans doing an amazed double-take.

The Modfathers cover more than four decades of wonderful Weller, stretching from the chart-storming hits of The Jam to his glittering solo career.

The Jam combined the raw aggression of punk with the sharp suits of the mod revival.

In just six years they racked up 18 top 40 singles, including The Eton Rifles, Going Underground and That's Entertainment Weller's next project - The Style Council - shifted to a more mellow sound but was even more political during the Thatcherite Eighties.

After going solo in the early Nineties, he found himself with number one album for the first time in a decade - the astonishing Stanley Road.

The Modfathers - featuring Tony Brown on guitar and vocals, bassist Kev White, drummer John Thomas and Martin Williams on keyboards - belt out hits from throughout Weller's illustrious career.

Tony, Martin and Kev played in several bands before the formation of 'Paul Weller Tribute' in 2004, while Kev and Martin played bass and keyboards with original Jam members Bruce Foxton and Rick Butler in 'From The Jam'.

The Modfathers are at Clacton's West Cliff Theatre tonight at 7.30pm. Tickets are £13.50 on 01255 433344.
