A YOUNGSTER with a rare terminal disease has been boosted by a special donation from a children’s charity.

Three-year-old Stanley Newman, of Skelmersdale Road, Clacton, has been given £500 by Colchester Children’s Charity after its bosses were touched by his tale.

Stanley has been diagnosed with an ultrarare form of the muscle wasting disease, congenital muscular dystrophy.

His devastated family were recently told no-one with the condition has lived past the age of 30, while many die in their teens.

But they are trying to remain positive and have been raising cash to make their home more accessible for Stanley. The children’s charity donation will help pay for the home adaptations, which are set to cost more than £50,000 – half of which will be council funded.

Stanley’s dad Rob said: “The charity heard about us through Muscular Dystrophy UK and read about the story in the Gazette.

“They approached us and wanted to help, and we bit their arm off.

“We still have a long way to go and the work on our home will be very expensive, but all of the donations add up.

“It will help us provide a proper home for Stanley which allows him to be an integral part of family life.”
