THE owners of a new Clacton music venue fear they will have to close down and move because of an ongoing noise row with their neighbours.

New venue The Wall opened in January and has been showcasing local bands on Friday and Saturday nights.

It is based in Jackson Road, underneath the Travelodge hotel.

But the two businesses have been embroiled in an ongoing row after Travelodge claimed the music nights were disturbing guests.

The Wall owners said they had been working in an attempt to find a compromise, but now fear the dispute will force them out.

Dave Bond, of The Wall, said: “We completely understand their issues and they do have genuine concerns.

“We have been doing everything we can to work closely with them and find a solution.

“Unfortunately, unless there is a miraculous change of heart or attitude, I think we will have to look for a new venue.

“We’ve put a lot of money into it, so this is upsetting. We have always been open about what we wanted to do here.”

The Wall was started by eight investors. Mr Bond revealed they have now started looking for alternative premises.

He added: “We all grew up here and we did this to help regenerate Clacton and bring something new to the town."

The Jackson Road premises are all owned by the same landlord.

The landlord said: “We want to make it work, but a music venue under a hotel might be too incompatible.

“We started getting complaints from Travelodge guests and there were lots of comments on Trip Advisor from people saying they couldn’t get a good night’s sleep.

“Travelodge has been here since 2009 and we went to The Wall owners and said this can’t continue.

“Hopefully, they can find a way to adapt their model and stay in the premises, but if that is not possible, they will have to look for an alternative.”
