A YOUNG mum who was led away in handcuffs from bondage bonkbuster Fifty Shades of Grey has appeared in court charged with assault and being drunk and disorderly.
Amy Murray hit a cinemagoer during a screening of the adults-only sizzler, after people sitting in the row in front of her and her friend took exception to their noisy comments.
An argument broke out and Murray hit a moviegoer as she gestured drunkenly with her hand, Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard.
The incident led to police being called to Clacton’s Century Cinema just before the end of the film, on February 18.
Murray’s lawyer Paul Baker told the court: “Miss Murray is a single parent with a four-year-old son, and is someone who rarely goes out."
He added: “While in the cinema they continued to drink alcohol and by the time the incident happened, she was in a pretty poor state of sobriety.
"She and her friends were finding the content of the film somewhat amusing, but people sitting in the row in front took exception to their hilarity.
“At that point, an argument broke out and there was a frank exchange of views.”
Murray was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £50 compensation and £100 in costs.
Speaking after the hearing, Murray said: “I’m remorseful and embarrassed.
“I’m a single mum and don’t get out very much. I’d drunk too much. I’m very sorry about what happened.”
