A DECISION is set to be made on major plans for a £10million redevelopment of Clacton Factory Outlet – including a six screen multiplex cinema.

Kames Capital, which owns the shopping centre in Stephenson Road West, wants the green light to demolish almost half of the existing shop units–many of which are empty – to make way for extra car parking.

There will be a multiplex cinema, three restaurants, a drive-through restaurant and a new 5,150 sq metre retail unit on the current car park site.

The children’s play area will also be demolished to create new car parking and the underpasses will be filled in.

Nick Moore, asset manager of the site on behalf of Kames, said: “This is the only way forward to regenerate the site and it will also give Clacton a better facility with easier car parking and hopefully a cinema and restaurants.”

A decision on the plans, which have been recommended for approval by planning officers, will be made by Tendring Council’s planning committee on Tuesday.
