PASSENGERS are bracing themselves for more rail disruption over the Easter weekend.

Network Rail is upgrading overhead lines between Ingatestone and London Liverpool Street on April 5 and 6.

Abellio Greater Anglia will run a bus service between Ingatestone and Newbury Park, where passengers can board a Central Line tube.

Network Rail’s Richard Schofield said: “It is only by continuing to invest in improving our infrastructure that we will be able to provide a more reliable service for passengers who rely on this line.

“The line from London Liverpool Street to Norwich carries a huge amount of traffic and this work is absolutely vital to provide passengers with a better service.

“We would like to thank passengers in advance for bearing with us over Easter as it will mean some changes to their travel plans.”

Abellio Greater Anglia boss Jamie Burles said the work would help improve services. “We will be doing all we can to provide the best possible alternative service during these improvement works,” he added.

  •  This week is the final weekend of replacement bus services between north Essex and London as Network Rail is due to complete its upgrade works between Manningtree and Shenfield.
