NATIONAL experts have been drafted in to tackle problems at Colchester General Hospital.
Health regulator Monitor has stepped in to make sure the hospital trust improves.
Two health experts have been brought in to advise staff and provide support.
An urgent care division has also been created to oversee accident and emergency and the emergency assessment unit to make sure they are not overstretched and enough staff are available.
The trust needs to recruit more than 140 extra nurses.
Trust chairman Peter Wilson said: “A major challenge for us is to invest in the additional nurses that we need to improve the quality of the care we provide, including in A&E, while simultaneously improving our financial performance.”
