BEER lovers in Tendring have named the White Hart in Weeley as their pub of the year for 2015.

The pub, in Clacton Road, was chosen by members of the Tendring branch of the Campaign for Real Ale as their favourite boozer.

Each year branch members travel around the district’s pubs before deciding on the nine local hostelries to represent Tendring in Camra’s Good Beer Guide.

Real ale drinkers are then asked to select their favourite pub from the top five, which this year also included Clacton’s Moon and Starfish, Brightlingsea’s Railway Tavern, and the Alma Inn and the New Bell in Harwich.

The White Hart was crowned pub of the year at a packed meeting at the Victory in Walton.

Branch chairman Jeff Luesley, said: “Choosing Tendring Camra’s Pub of the Year is undoubtedly a pleasant task but our members certainly take it very seriously.

“It is a big achievement to make the short-list and to actually win the award requires something very special."
