A MAN from Jaywick who was due to stand trial for murder after the death of his brother has been found dead in prison.
Junaid Hamidi, 28, of Flowers Way, had been remanded in custody at Hull Prison ahead of the trial.
It is believed he was found hanged in his cell.
Hamidi was arrested after the body of Sheikh Zubair Hamidi, 48, also of Flowers Way, was discovered at a flat in Grimsby inOctober.
Mr Hamidi, a British national of Bangladeshi origin, had been renovating the property, whichhe owned.
A Prison Service spokesman said Junaid Hamidi was found unresponsive in his cell at Hull Prison at 5.20am on January 25.
He said: “As with all deaths, theIndependentPrisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation.”
The prosecution claimed Junaid Hamidi killed his brother with a hammer. His defence team said he denied murder.
