A TEENAGE boy’s summer day out turned to tragedy when he drowned in a waterfilled quarry trying to swim across to meet some girls on the other bank, an inquest heard.

After a couple of girls swam across the lake, 16-year-old Conor and two of his friends followed, but the swim ended in tragic circumstances.
