CHRISTMAS came to Clacton on time despite fears festive lights would not have permission to go up.
Essex Highways Agency gave the Clacton Town Partnership the go ahead to hang Christmas lights at the eleventh hour – meaning Saturday’s big switch-on went ahead as planned.
Brave youngster Stanley Newman who has congenital muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease sufferer Wendy Orton pressed the button which illuminated the streets.
Stars of the West Cliff Theatre’s Variety Show and the Princes Theatre’s pantomime also made an appearance, including leading man Charlie Condou who made time in his jam-packed rehearsal schedule.
