A PROFESSIONAL villain who tried to cover up the deeds of a gang of rogue traders has been jailed for nine years.

About £9million passed through Harvey White’s pawnbrokers shop over five years, but the origins of the money could not be traced.

It transpired White, 49, was using the business to cover up the proceeds of a scam.

James Brown Senior, of Duffield Drive, Colchester, and his gang of rogue builders were fleecing elderly residents of their life savings – and most of the cheques were being cashed at White’s shop.

White, 49, of Red Rose House, Church Road, Clacton, was found guilty of money laundering after a two-week trial.
