A CONFIDENTIAL advice service for young people has reopened its doors in Clacton.

Teen Talk has found a new home in the town’s library, in Station Road, where it will run drop-in sessions twice a week.

The charity works with young people, aged from11 to 25, and deals with a range of issues such as bullying, drugs, anger, anxiety, bereavement and difficulties at home or school.

Its Clacton centre closed some years ago and was replaced with outreach services in schools and at the Coastal Community Centre.

Tendring Council has promised £44,000 over the next two years to support the relaunch.

Council leader Mick Page said it was vital to get the service back up and running in the town.

He said: "It helps them to find ways in which they can manage the everyday difficulties they face and improve areas such as family relationships, self-esteem, confidence, health, wellbeing and social skills.”

The library base is being provided free by Essex County Council.

“We want to see Teen Talk back and flourishing in Clacton,” added Mr Page.

“It is such a valuable and vital service and will benefit so many young people.”

Teen Talk will also operate from Clacton’s Coastal Community Centre, in Pathfields Road, on Mondays on an appointment-only basis.

The drop-in service at the library will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.45pm to 4.45pm.
