A PROMINENT councillor arrested on suspicion of fraud against Sport England has been rebailed.
District and county councillor Pierre Oxley, 40, was arrested alongside Clacton Cricket Club vicechairman Gary Kirk, 53, earlier this year.
The allegation relates to a Sport England grant for Clacton Sports Club, based at Vista Road Recreation Ground, for floodlights, new showers and pipework at the shared clubhouse.
Mr Oxley, previously vicechairman of Clacton United Football Club and later chairman of Clacton Cricket Club and Clacton Sports Club, answered bail on Tuesday.
He was rebailed until February 18.
Mr Kirk is on bail until November 11. Neither have been charged.
