THE countdown is on for voluntary and community groups across Essex to apply for grant funding.
Grants of up to £1,000 are available to organisations across the county as part of the High Sheriffs’ Fund, run by this year’s High Sheriff, Layer Marney Tower’s Nicholas Charrington.
The money is for groups making an outstanding contribution to their community by making it a safer place.
Mr Charrington said: “There are so many voluntary organisations working with local people to keep our communities safe from crime.
“The annual High Sheriffs’ Awards event provides a wonderful opportunity for their valuable contribution to be recognised, so I would urge organisations to apply for the funding that they need.”
Applications must be submitted by November 30.
