BLUEPRINTS to demolish a prominent nightclub in Clacton and replace it with a new “landmark” building have been resubmitted to planners.
Liquor Lounge, in Marine Parade East, could be knocked down to make way for a new five storey building, including a pub restaurant and 14 flats.
Developer Krishna Kandiah, of Fourth Avenue, Frinton, wants to demolish the three-storey art deco-style building, which is in a conservation area opposite the Grade II listed Royal Hotel, to create a new “building of significance” for Clacton.
Blueprints for the scheme show a 20-metre high tower and plans for ten two-bedroom flats and four one-bedroom flats, as well as the pub-restaurant and an underground car park.
Similar proposals were approved by Tendring Council in 2011, but new plans have been submitted to alter a number of conditions, including increasing the overall height of the building slightly. A decision is expected by December 19.
