FAMILY and friends of murdered teenager Jay Whiston this week mourned the second anniversary of his death.

Mum Caroline Shearer said: “I will be at his grave. It is all we have left.

“What else is there? He is dead.”

Jay was a pupil at Tendring Technology College in Frinton.

His friends still keep in contact with his family.

Mrs Shearer said many of their lives had also been changed forever.

“I get up and work as much and as hard as I can until I drop,” she said. “Then I sleep, get up and do it again. After two years it is still all I can do.”

Mrs Shearer also revealed she is facing a fresh setback after Essex Police told her she can not have back Jay’s clothes from the night he was killed.

She said: “I am still waiting to get them back. I have now been told I can’t have his top, jeans or belt, but just his socks, pants and trainers.

“It might seem macabre to some, but they are the last part of him.”

Essex Police said they had a legal duty to keep the clothing in case there was an appeal.

A spokesman said: “The senior investigating officer, Det Insp Anne Cameron, will be making contact with Mrs Shearer to discuss this with her personally to try to resolve the situation.”
