A CLACTON man played a vital role in solving one of the most infamous murder mysteries of all time.
Self-confessed armchair detective Russell Edwards believes has revealed the true identity of Jack the Ripper – the notorious 19th-century serial killer.
But he was only able to make the stunning discovery after buying the vital clue - a blood-stained shawl - at auction from David Melville-Hayes, of Dahlia Close, Clacton.
