A NEW scheme to tackle domestic abuse took off at Clacton Air Show.
Behind Closed Doors follows on from the Standing Together campaign, which was launched by Essex County Council and Essex Police.
It is aimed at supporting the police and specialist agencies in raising awareness of what is domestic abuse for the victims and their friends.
Tendring Council’s community builder, Diane Boyd, organised the event at the air showwith the backing of Colchester and Tendring Women’s Refuge, Citizens Advice Bureau, Essex County Fire and Rescue, Extra Support for Families and the Wowfactor Charity.
Lynda McWilliams, cabinet member for wellbeing, said it was not only there for the victim, but also to help the public to understand the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship.
“The Standing Together campaign has been a huge success and this new initiative is an ideal way to back it up,” she said.
