HUNDREDS of smiling faces turned out for Jaywick’s summer fayre, with organisers hailing it as the best ever.

An estimated 400 people descended on Golf Green Hall for a fun-filled day.

Attractions included drumming workshops, live music, football, face painting and traditional games such as splat the rat and hook a duck.

“It went very well,” said spokesman Mick Masterson.

“It’s the seventh year we’ve done it. I keep saying it goes from strength to strength, but this really was our best year.”

Budding footballers competed to find out who had the hardest kick to win Colchester United match tickets.

“People brought homemade cakes to sell on the day and all the money raised goes to local charities,” added Mr Masterson.

“We usually raise about £500 to give to groups.

Everything goes back into the community.”
