A WOULD-be robber fled empty-handed after a struggle with a security guard outside a store in Clacton.
The man tried to grab the cash box from the guard outside the Tesco Express shop, in St Osyth Road.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "There was a struggle but the attempt was unsuccessful and the thief fled the scene empty-handed.
"It is possible he left the area in a black BMW."
The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 21 and 40. He was seen wearing high-top trainers and no shirt.
Anyone with information about the incident, which happened at 8.15pm on Wednesday, should call Det Con Lee Winfield, at Clacton CID, on 101.
