AMBULANCE staff experienced their busiest weekend of the year as temperatures soared.
They received almost 6,500 emergency calls at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust control centre.
Calls on Saturday were up 700 on average and 300 higher than any Saturday this year.
Manager Nicholas Jones said: “We do tend to experience peaks in calls due to extreme weather.”
