Benin Christian Support flooded with donations for tot's op
3:30pm Friday 2nd November 2012 in Clacton, Frinton & Walton
A CHARITY has been overwhelmed by the support which has poured in to help save a baby girl in need of a life-saving operation.
African baby Audrey Ado was born with a life-threatening growth on her spine.
She was given just weeks to live, unless cash could be found for an operation.
Thorpe-based charity Benin Christian Support issued a desperate plea in the Clacton Gazette for funds to help the youngster, and has been inundated with donations.
In just five days it had received more than the £1,300 needed for the vital operation.
Charity spokesman Maureen Sanders said: “The response we have had has been absolutely fantastic.
“People certainly didn’t let us down. It just shows that there are a lot of people out there with big hearts, who are willing to open them up and help others."
Anyone wanting to support the charity can send cheques made payable to Benin Christian Support to Maureen Sanders, BCS Treasurer, 23 Abbey Crescent, Thorpe, CO16 0LH.
