Braintree: Racing teens take to test track

Young mechanics raced their battery powered car in a regional race.

The 13-year-olds from Tabor Science College, Braintree, constructed the Tabor Typhoon for the Essex regional heat of the Greenpower Formula 24 four hour endurance race at the Ford Dunton test track.

All 11 cars taking part were powered by the same motors and six 12v batteries.

Tabor’s team - Conor Culham, Aiden Cayley, Josh Hammond and Lauren Middleton - finished in last place overall butwere first through the chequered flag.
