As part of a cost cutting move, a secondary school will be asked to consider running a leisure centre.
Braintree Council is looking for an organisation to take over the management of Braintree Leisure Centre by December 2011.
One of the options the council will be investigating is whether Tabor Science College could take over the facility - as noted in the council’s asset management plan.
Steven Clark, head teacher, said: “It’s interesting that it’s in the asset management plan without the school being approached in the first instance.
“It will need to be given a lot of consideration as to whether it’s an appropriate move."
