A pub has launched a new initiative for people with learning disabilities.

Brendan’s in East Street, Braintree, is now holding PubClub from Monday to Friday during the day.

Mornings are for people to chill out and use the pub’s facilities, and there are planned activities for the afternoons.

Pub landlord Brendan Flynn said all in all the launch on March 15 was a “very very good day”.

He said: “I've been a publican for 16 years in Braintree and have over the years run many functions for people in the local community with learning disabilities, their family, friends and carers.

“Using my pub during the day makes absolute sense.

“Everything is here for people to come in and enjoy themselves during the daytime."
