Two policemen will be spending as much time as they can on the beat.

Sergeant Matt Crow and Neighbourhood Specialist Officer PC Shaun Hammond are both new to Braintree town centre.

Mr Hammond, 39, who has worked in Witham and Clacton, said: “It’s quite clear that high visibility policing reduces crime and that’s what I plan on doing in the town."

Mr Crow, 38, said: “I used to be a traffic officer dealing with serious road accidents so it’s a huge change for me.

“This is my first time doing community police work. It’s something new and something I’m looking forward to taking on.”

Mr Crow, who worked with the Stanway Road Policing Unit, can be contacted by emailing matthew.crow@essex.pnn.police.uk
