A school faces an extra year in temporary accommodation.
Chipping Hill School, which is currently an infants school, was supposed to move to new premises by September this year.
However, Essex County Council has now revealed the new accommodation in Maltings Lane, Witham, will not be ready until September 2011.
The plan for new premises came as a result of the council deciding to turn the infant school into a primary school.
Michael Page, Essex County Council spokesman, said: “The delay in the relocation of Chipping Hill Infant School is due to more time being needed to confirm access routes to the new school."
