An improving academy is celebrating after securing its second Good Ofsted report in a row.

New Rickstones Academy, in Rickstones Road, Witham, was praised by inspectors for the quality of its management, students behaviour and the outcomes achieved by pupils whilst at the school.

At its previous inspection in January 2015, the school was also rated Good by the watchdog, however the latest report states “significant improvements” had been made to the quality of learning and the school’s standards continued to rise.

Damian Lee, headteacher of New Rickstones Academy, said: “While an inspection gives a snapshot of a school, this positive Ofsted report gives us the platform to progress even further.

“We are now full in September’s year 7 cohort, results are improving rapidly and there is a real buzz around the town for New Rickstones Academy.

“I’m really proud to have such a dedicated set of students and staff who have worked extremely hard over the time I have been here.

“They should be really proud of what they have achieved and is shown in this Ofsted inspection, as am I.”

The school was told teaching could be improved further meaning children could “reach the highest standards expected for their ages”.

New Rickstones Academy was visited by Ofsted for two days in May, with the watchdog’s report being published on Monday.
