YOU might already have found the motivation to head to the gym for the summer but if not, here’s a reason to really hit the weights.

A competition which will pit the strongest of the strong against each other is set to take place at Witham Rugby Club.

The South Essex Strongest Man and Woman 2018 will be held to raise money for Havens Hospices and is open to male and female novices - with the top three novices qualifying for the UK’s Strongest Novice competition.

Categories for inters and open will also be available to enter.

There will also be fun event which should provide a change from regular strongman events

To enter into the event and to prove your strength it will cost £30.

It will take place on Saturday, June 23 at Witham Rugby Club, in Spa Road.

Proceedings will get underway at 9am with it expected to end at 6pm.

The head referee of the event will be Rob Frampton while Sue Yule will be responsible for time-keeping.

Among the events which will be taking place on the day are a frame carry, a press medley, a shield carry and a keg toss.
