A SON is pleading for information after a car which he restored in memory of his mother was stolen.

Danny Hall has been working to restore the white Renault 5 following the death of his mum in 2014.

She tragically died after a battle with leukaemia but before her death she set some money aside for her son to fix the motor up.

Mr Hall, 33, said: “I can’t understand why anyone would take it because it’s not worth much, other than what it means to us.

“Whoever took it is a total lowlife, they’re scumbags.

“I don’t care if it comes back to me and it’s just a shell, I can still rebuild it and it’ll still be that place where my mum sat.

“It’s all I really have left of her, when I saw that it was gone I couldn’t believe it - I looked at my wife and broke down in tears.”

Mr Hall, who lives in Chesterfield, was visiting a fellow car enthusiast in Braintree when the car was stolen from Panfield Lane.

It was taken as he and his family paid a visit to last weekend’s Carnival - when they returned to the address on Monday morning the car was gone.

The family are offering a £5,000 reward for information which leads to the Renault being returned.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We received a call reporting a white Renault 5 had been taken from an address in Panfield Lane, Braintree, at some time between June 8 and June 11.

“The car is described as having blacked-out windows and circle merrett lights.

“It was reported the vehicle also had tools in worth a three to four-figure sum.”

Call police on 101 quoting crime reference number 42/81634/18 with information.
