A PARISH council has given its backing to plans which will change rules surrounding bank holiday parking.
It comes after Kelvedon residents were left bemused in April when up to ten penalty notices were dished out in one hour.
Parking restrictions exist on roads near the village's train station from 10am until 11am to stop commuters blocking residential streets.
The restrictions are not enforced at weekends but homeowners in the area didn't realise they were in place for Bank Holidays.
However, at a meeting last week, Kelvedon councillors supported a proposal put forward by district councillor Robert Mitchell that restrictions be relaxed on bank holidays.
The final decision will rest with the North Essex Parking Partnership.
A spokesman for the NEPP said: "We will be reviewing the parking restrictions with the council in the area and will be happy to consider any formal request when submitted.
"Provided the request has appropriate support, the process to alter the regulations is straightforward."
