A preschool has been rated good in all areas by Ofsted.

Christ Church Preschool, in London Road, Braintree, was praised by inspectors for its enthusiasm and strong commitment to children.

Staff were recognised for their work with parents and establishing partnerships.

The report said: “They are enthusiastic and work well together as part of a friendly and motivated team who meet children’s individual care and learning needs.

“Parents are kept well informed about their children’s day and are actively encouraged to remain involved in their learning and development.

“Staff support children’s speech and language development effectively. They engage children in conversation, ask questions to encourage them to think and actively listen to what they have to say.”

The preschool, which has 18 members of staff, was established in the 1960s as a traditional playgroup.

It now has three rooms, including its Raindrops room for children over two, which opened last month and already has a waiting list.

Manager Lisa Foyster said: “It’s the first time we have had an inspection while I have been here.

“We are really pleased with the result. The parents said lovely things about us.

“I am a bit disappointed we didn’t get outstanding.

“It was a good outcome, especially for a pack away nursery where all of our toys have to go back in cupboards because the church use the building.

“Because of that it makes it difficult to get outstanding.”
