In response to Margaret Obey’s letter to the Times (January 25), I agree wholeheartedly that parking is totally inadequate in many streets in Witham.

So much so, that cars, vans, lorries, etc are having to park on grass verges to ensure all vehicles are parked safely.

There are numerous grass verges which is lovely, but not so lovely to look at when vehicles park on these verges and leave muddy trails which make the area look scruffy and uncared for.

Surely with the many grass areas that are available these could be turned into a few more parking spaces.

When many of the houses were built in the fifties/sixties not so many people had cars but we need to reconsider the volume of vehicles that are now owned by one family and will continue to increase in years to come when families expand and grow up.

Please let the council come and look around the district where houses are very close together and they will see for themselves there is an urgent need for more hardcore parking spaces.

Many houses do not have drives and therefore have no choice but to park on the road. The turnings off Allectus Way are totally congested with parked cars. Please can something be done urgently?

We have had new bus shelters put up in Allectus Way where applicable, and this improvement alone removed the look of a deprived area, so please can we do something about the parking issue?
